Day 365 (and counting)

Sweat streamed down his brow. “This is all wrong!” he thought.  “First off, blog posts are not done in third person.”

The sweat emanated not from writer’s block, rather from the magnitude of it all… from the pending countdown to the destruction of a long and successful career in PR.

“Really, whose revenge will it be?” he wondered.

Rule #1 of Succssful Blogging: Be Interesting

That is why he had chosen the name “Flack’s Revenge.”  Finally, he would have a way to set the record straight, by co-opting the very tools that are upending the world of his heretofore tormentors.  The blogging soapbox could give him a way to reach millions, to talk back, correct the record and turn biting commentary back on the ones who formerly had sole reign of the media megaphone.

When the catharsis would be complete, billions of electrons later, so would his career.

Rule #2 of Succssful Blogging: There’s no Turning Back!

Now, with his first post he would set the wheels in motion.  He reckoned it would take about a year for his blog to gain a head of steam – for everyone to see what he was up to.  By then, the word would be out, and his letters would be scarlet.

Day number 365, and the countdown begins…

Don’t mean to be dramatic, just thought I would find a fun way to introduce this new blog.  I have no interest in wrecking a successful career.  And although it would be great if my public musings will generate some cash, I have no illusions that I will be able to quit my day job anytime soon, despite the recent Business 2.0 piece “Blogging for Dollars.”

I am a big David Cronenberg fan (the Director behind Scanners and a bunch of other great movies).  His movie Videodrome, from the early ’80s referred to video as the New Flesh (this was right around the time of the rapid growth of cable TV, the VCR and home video), a  metaphor for the way that the new media was changing our very skins.

So instead of speeding the demise of a career, I am hoping that this blog will be a way for me to actually advance my career, to help open new doors for me that will allow me to become as successful as possible. I want to join the millions of other people who have become a household name in their chosen industry. I’ve worked hard to get to this point. Through looking at how somewhere like this professional resume writing maryland service can help to set me on the right track when it comes to getting my resume up to par, to spending as much time as possible writing my blog, they can all make a positive difference to my career and where my life will take me.

I will strive to find a compelling blogging voice and experiment with this still new way of communicating, and I will do so in a way that builds audience, educates, and entertains. To those who say I am coming late to the game, you may have a point – actually, my dad, who is in his seventies just asked me about blogging which tellls me I am way late – then again, he is diving into iPods next, which means that anything is possible).

If it means ruffling a few feathers, so be it, remember Rule #1 above, “Be Interesting.”

But the revenge will be more figurative than real, I am not setting out to burn any bridges.

I will write about topics that I (and hopefully others) find interesting in the world’s of technology, marketing, PR and communications.  In the words of Cronenberg,  “Long live the new Flesh!”

So please stay tuned, and thanks for reading!
